Do you have experience as a Clerk of works or have experience inspecting construction sites for workmanship, quality and compliance?

Are you looking for a role where you will play key role in the development of a world famous estate where the project will exceed over £100m?

This estate extends to over 300 acres with approximately 150 buildings, 70 acres of woodlands and gardens, a 60-acre farm and 120 acres of sports fields including a 9-hole golf course.

This organisations buildings and facilities will receive significant capital investment over the coming years to ensure its growth .continues. They are looking to be the best in class in every area. To this end, an Estates Master Plan has been developed which sets out an investment plan which will exceed £100m over the next 10-years.

The Clerk of Works will be responsible for regularly inspecting construction sites focusing on workmanship, quality, compliance with the building contract, specification and drawings, employers' requirements, health and safety, progress in accordance with the contract programme and coordinating activities, supporting the main contractor who is responsible for forward planning and executing works always minimising impact on business-as-usual activities.

You will report to the Head of Capital Development and maintain regular contact with colleagues, the Employer's Agent / Contract Administrator, design team and main contractor working across a diverse range of interesting and challenging projects.

The role:

*Contribute and participate in the procurement and selection of the main contractor including and not limited to visiting construction sites for prospective tenderers gathering references and completing site visits to help assess the contractor's suitability and track record for delivering high quality, within budget and programme, in a live operational environment.
*Verify all insurances are in place prior to construction work commencing. Maintain insurance records through the construction period.
*Establish and maintain a positive working relationship with consultants, contractors, internal and external stakeholders.
*Review and check construction activity is being completed to the correct specification and drawings and is in accordance with the Building Contract. Maintain records, report, and actively resolve issues via the Employer's Agent, or Contract Administrator.
* Carry out regular inspections as the main contractor completes defect rectification works. Support the Employer's Agent, Contract Administrator, design consultants in maintaining accurate up to date records producing dashboard reports which capture quality, progress, safety and key issues.
*5 year contract with a possibility for extension of another 2 years

The person:

*Full Member of ICWCI or on-route to full membership
*Demonstrable post-qualification knowledge and experience gained as a Clerk of Works delivering inspection and QA services on large-scale and complex projects in the UK construction industry
*A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. An understanding of manufacturers requirements and compliance
*Demonstrable use of construction management software or a keen interest in and relevant experience using technology to support the QA inspection and reporting process.
*Demonstrable experience gained as a Clerk of Works inspecting works which range in value from £1m to £6m and also major projects in excess of £30m.
