Are you a Backend Engineer, Staff Engineer or Senior Software Engineer looking for real ownership of a core product, where you can lead architecture and deliver high-impact systems that directly drive growth?

On offer is a key role with a well-funded travel technology business, taking technical ownership of the booking domain and a versioned external API used by distribution partners (and authorized AI agents) to price, hold, book, modify and cancel experiences.

As a result of continued growth into new hospitality verticals, they are now looking to add a Senior engineer who can set the technical roadmap and build robust integration patterns at scale.

You will be hands-on solving complex transactional challenges across inventory and capacity (units and time slots), idempotency, concurrency controls, retries, webhooks and failure recovery, building on a production stack centered around Ruby on Rails, Postgres, OpenSearch and AWS (with Node.js also in use).

This role would suit someone who thrives in ambiguity, enjoys leading technical direction, and wants long-term development with regular promotion cycles and support for training and certifications.

The Role:

• Own the booking domain and external API for partner integrations
• Lead architecture, technical roadmap and hands-on backend development
• Build reliable transactional workflows (inventory, idempotency, concurrency, webhooks)
• 4 day working week: On-site role in New York, NY (Mon-Thu, 9:30am-5:30pm)

The Person:

• Strong backend engineering experience
• Experience with transactional systems, public APIs, or integration platforms
• Hands-on with Ruby on Rails and/or Node.js, plus Postgres and AWS
• Able to be in New York 4 days per week
