Are you a Purchasing Assistant Manager, Senior Buyer, or Purchasing Supervisor looking to step up into a leadership role where you can take ownership of production purchasing and drive supplier localization projects? Do you want a position where you'll be trusted to negotiate, influence, and make decisions that directly impact a high-volume manufacturing operation?

On offer is a key position within a well-established Tier-1 automotive manufacturer, supporting a major powertrain and transmission facility. You will lead purchasing activity for production items, with genuine scope to progress into a Purchasing Manager position as the department grows.

Due to continued growth, they are looking to add a Purchasing Assistant Manager to strengthen their supply base, reduce overseas dependency, and support new part development and engineering changes.

In this role you will negotiate pricing and terms with vendors, source and evaluate new suppliers, support localization activity, manage purchasing data within SAP, and ensure country-of-origin / customs compliance for imported parts, while coordinating closely with Quality, Manufacturing, Assembly, and Production Control.

This role would suit someone with production purchasing experience who wants more responsibility, clear progression, and the chance to lead critical supply projects in a fast-paced environment.

The Role:
- Lead purchasing activity for production parts, including requisition review, supplier selection, and order placement
- Negotiate pricing/terms and coordinate new part development and engineering changes
- Drive supplier localization and evaluate supplier capability/quality systems
- Maintain purchasing data and reconcile pricing within SAP; support reporting for decision-making
- Site-based role in West Point, GA with flexibility for urgent supplier travel as required

The Person:
- 3-5+ years' purchasing or supply chain experience within a manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of U.S. customs regulations and country-of-origin requirements
- Experience with purchasing systems (SAP preferred); strong negotiation and communication skills
