Senior Autonomy Engineer - Robotics
$140,000 - $200,000 + Equity/Stock Options + Technical Ownership + Long-Term Progression
On-Site in Gainesville, Florida - Relocation Support Provided!
Are you looking to take full ownership of an autonomy stack that will be deployed in real hospitals, solving real navigation and reliability problems at scale? Do you want to join an early-stage robotics startup where your technical decisions directly shape the product, the roadmap, and how a fleet performs in the field?
On offer is a rare opportunity to join a fast-growing healthcare robotics business in a hands-on senior role, bridging core autonomy algorithms and real-world execution as they scale deployments with hospital partners.
This is an early employee position within a small, specialist engineering team working across hardware and software, rapidly iterating from prototype to deployment. As a result of continued growth and new pilot programs, they are now looking to bring in a dedicated autonomy expert to own and productionize their autonomy system.
In this role you will architect and deploy robust autonomy software (ROS/ROS2) across dynamic hospital environments, tackling complex edge cases such as crowded corridors, elevators, doorways, temporary obstacles and localization degradation. You will build observability into the fleet through logging, telemetry, health monitoring and diagnostics, and work closely with software, electrical, mechanical, sensors and controls to ensure safe, reliable operation around patients and staff.
This role would suit a senior autonomy engineer who has shipped production autonomy into commercial operation, takes pride in reliability over demos, and wants real technical ownership, mentorship responsibility, and long-term growth as the company scales.
The Role:
*On-site senior autonomy role based in Gainesville, FL, building and scaling an autonomy stack for hospital deployments
*Own autonomy architecture across navigation, localization, planning/perception and safety in real-world environments
*Develop logging, telemetry, health monitoring and diagnostic tooling to improve fleet reliability
*Solve complex field issues post-deployment and drive production-ready engineering standards
*Collaborate cross-functionally across software, sensors, controls, electrical and mechanical engineering
The Person:
*Experience building autonomy for mobile robots in industry, with proven commercial deployment experience
*Strong C++, Python and Linux skills with ROS/ROS2 experience and a production mindset
*Strong technical leadership and mentoring ability
