Cable System Design Engineer
London
£50,000 - £85,000 (DOE) + Company Bonus Scheme + Private medical + Hybrid Working + More
Excellent opportunity for a candidate coming from the HV transmission sector where they have worked in a cable systems engineer role or similar and is now looking to develop their specialist skills with a forward-thinking multi-disciplinary consultancy that can offer further training and development opportunities within a positive and collaborative working environment.
This company specialise in the design, surveying, condition assessment and consenting of electricity transmission and distribution projects encompassing overhead lines and underground cables. They are looking to strengthen their electrical engineering expertise within this expanding sector particularly in HV underground cable engineering but also sub-station and OHL engineering.
In this role you will be working alongside the wider engineering technical team and responsible for developing different cable system designs for transmission network and distribution network whilst also being responsible for providing technical assessment of tender submissions.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience within the HV electricity transmission sector with strong competency in using CYMCAP (or similar software) while having a strong interest in developing their specialist skills and benefitting from a positive work culture.

The role:
* Prepare cable system design calculation including cable sizing assessments, earthing and interface studies.
* Engage with clients to understand project requirements and ensure that the technical scope of projects is met.
* Ensure deliverables are prepared to industry and client specifications.
* Producing design concepts, specifications and other technical documents. Including relaying design information to internal drafting resource.
* Attending sites for inspection and design purposes.
The Person:
* Previous experience working within the HV electricity transmission/Distribution sector, ideally with specific experience in cable system design
* Degree educated in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent discipline
* Competent in using CYMCAP or similar software
