Assistant Engineering Manager (Millwork)

Are you an Engineer from a millwork or woodworking background looking to step up into leadership within a growing custom manufacturing business?
This is an exciting opportunity to join a design-led, custom manufacturer focused on improving efficiency, upgrading equipment, and strengthening its management structure to support long-term growth at its Long Island facility.
Now is a fantastic time to step into a leadership-track position where you can influence processes, support team development, and help drive operational improvements, with clear progression into Engineering Manager or other senior roles based on performance.
You will be responsible for supporting and developing the engineering team, overseeing drafting and design output, ensuring technical accuracy across custom projects, and helping improve workflows and efficiency across the department. You'll work closely with production and management to ensure projects move smoothly from concept to manufacturing.
This role would suit an ambitious Engineer with strong drafting skills and millwork knowledge who is ready to step into a supervisory position and grow into senior leadership.
The Role:
Support and mentor engineering/drafting team members
Oversee custom project designs and production drawings
Improve engineering processes and departmental efficiency
Work cross-functionally with production and operations
The Candidate:
Background in millwork / woodworking manufacturing
Strong drafting skills
Strong understanding of materials and custom manufacturing processes
