In this role, the Electrical Engineer will be responsible for commissioning new or refurbished hydro equipment on-site, both nationally and internationally, while also providing electrical expertise to design teams. This includes programming control systems with PLC, HMI, and AVR software, creating comprehensive documentation for testing and customer handover, and attending supplier Factory Acceptance Tests to ensure quality.

The role would suit an electrical engineer with a background in controls engineering and PLC systems, and a keen desire to further develop skills and work on cutting edge technology. You should have an electrical engineering qualification (HNC minimum) and be flexible to travel UK wide and oversees occasionally.

The Role:

  • Commission new and refurbished hydro equipment on-site in the UK and abroad.
  • Provide electrical expertise for design teams, preparing control philosophies and checking schematics.
  • Program PLC, HMI, and AVR software to test control systems and optimise power generation.
  • Create all necessary documentation, including cable schedules, test procedures, and customer handover documents.
  • Attend supplier Factory Acceptance Tests to ensure equipment is manufactured correctly.


The Person:

  • Educated to at least HNC/HND level in Electrical Engineering
  • Good knowledge of control systems and PLCs
  • Proven post-qualification experience in an Electrical or C&I Engineering position
  • Comfortable with occasional travel to customer sites in the UK as well as overseas
