An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Estates and Facilities professional to take a leading role within a respected and forward-thinking educational institution. This is a hands-on leadership role offering genuine variety, autonomy, and long-term stability. You'll oversee all aspects of Estates and Facilities Management, from maintenance, cleaning, and security through to compliance, energy management, and sustainability. You'll play a key part in ensuring the College estate operates efficiently, safely, and to the highest possible standards.

2025 and beyond will be an exciting period of development, with capital investment and modernisation projects underway. You'll have the opportunity to shape the College's approach to facilities management, drive operational improvements, and deliver a high-quality environment for staff and students across multiple sites.
Reporting to the Head of Estates and Capital, you will lead a dedicated Estates and Facilities team - including maintenance, compliance, and soft services functions - ensuring an efficient, safe, and compliant estate that supports the College's strategic ambitions.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced Estates or Facilities Manager with strong leadership skills, proven operational management experience, and a track record of delivering high-quality estates and facilities services.

You'll bring excellent organisational, communication, and problem-solving abilities, alongside a proactive, solutions-focused approach. Qualifications in building or services disciplines (NVQ Level 3 or higher) and Health & Safety (IOSH/NEBOSH) are desirable, as is experience managing teams and contractors in a complex, multi-site environment.

The Role
*Lead and manage the Estates and Facilities team, including maintenance, compliance, cleaning, and security functions
*Oversee planned and reactive maintenance programmes across multiple sites
*Manage budgets, procurement, and service contracts to ensure value for money
*Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, and statutory regulations
*Oversee Building Management Systems (BMS) and energy use to support sustainability targets
*Manage contractor control, procurement, and tendering processes
*Deliver efficient, high-quality facilities services to staff, students, and visitors
*Support the Head of Estates and Capital with long-term estate planning and capital projects
*Maintain high standards of presentation, safety, and service excellence across the estate

The Person

*Experienced Estates or Facilities Manager with a background in building, maintenance, or property services
*Strong leadership skills with experience managing multi-disciplinary teams and service contracts
*Knowledge of Health & Safety, building regulations, and facilities best practice
*Excellent organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills
*Qualified to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a relevant building/services discipline
*Health & Safety qualification (IOSH/NEBOSH) or willingness to work towards
*Project Management qualification (PRINCE2 or similar) desirable
*Professional membership (CIOB, IWFM, or similar) advantageous
