Head of Business Development (Defense)

Stuttgart (Hybrid)

€130,000-140,000+ Bonus+ Holiday + Pension + Flexible working hours.

Excellent opportunity of an experienced Team leader of Business Development, where you will be responsible for the development and implementation of sales strategy for the European Defense market and future growth.

The company is a worldwide designer and manufacturer of precision motion control products and systems. From designing and manufacturing products and solutions to providing expert consultative support, they collaborate with customers in many of the world's most challenging industrial applications.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced Business Development Team Lead, with a focus of on leading a high-performing team, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure individual and collective success. You would also have experience developing sales strategy, defining roadmaps, working with large customers and closely with management and stakeholders.

The role:

  • You will lead and inspire a high-performing business development team, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure individual and collective success.
  • Develop and execute central strategy plans at a global and regional level with measurable KPIs.
  • Promotion and local implementation of strategic initiatives.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key Defense customers, partners and suppliers, identify opportunities for upselling, and ensure the team delivers exceptional customer satisfaction.
  • Drive revenue growth by setting and achieving ambitious sales targets, monitoring performance metrics, and implementing effective sales strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with US ITAR, EU export and offset rules.

The person:

  • Several years of sales experience with complex technical applications.
  • 7 + years of experience in dealing with large Defense customers, with excellent knowledge of the defense industry.
  • 3+ years' experience leading a sales/ business development team.
  • Excellent knowledge of working with international and multifunctional teams, also management and stakeholders.
  • Solution and customer-oriented approach.
  • Fluent knowledge of German and English, both written and spoken.
