Maintenance Engineer
£38,000 - £42,000 + Benefits
Whitstable, Kent (Commutable from Canterbury, Herne Bay, Faversham, Sittingbourne, Margate)
Are you an experienced Maintenance Engineer looking for a hands-on role where you can take ownership of plant, equipment, and facilities within a dynamic manufacturing environment? This is a great opportunity to join a skilled maintenance team, supporting both reactive and planned maintenance while driving continuous improvement across the site.
You will be responsible for delivering PPM (Planned Preventative Maintenance), responding to breakdowns, and supporting projects such as new equipment installations, site regeneration, and sustainability initiatives. Your work will ensure plant and facilities operate efficiently, safely, and reliably, while contributing to improvements that enhance overall site performance.
In this role, you will liaise with internal teams, contractors, and suppliers to coordinate maintenance activities, embed best practices, and implement solutions to address gaps in current processes. You will also work with specialist equipment such as PLCs, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and electrical/mechanical plant, producing accurate documentation and maintaining compliance with safety and operational standards.
This position is ideal for an engineer who is diligent, proactive, and enjoys problem-solving, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. You'll have the opportunity to develop your skills across multiple disciplines, including mechanical, electrical, and facilities maintenance, within a supportive, engineering-focused environment.
The Role:
- Deliver reactive and planned maintenance across plant, machinery, and facilities, ensuring safe and reliable operation
- Support projects including new equipment installations, site improvements, and sustainability initiatives
- Coordinate with internal teams, contractors, and suppliers to implement process improvements and maintain compliance
The Candidate:
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Engineering with at least 5 years' experience in a similar maintenance role
- Skilled across multiple engineering disciplines, able to interpret electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic diagrams, and use fault-finding techniques
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and organisational skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
